# ONA TILIM

(Abdulla Oripov)

# DORBOZ

Bulutlarga yondosh, osmon ostida,
Kiprikdagi yoshday turibdi dorboz.
Qilichning damiday arqon ustida,
Ko‘zlarini yumib yuribdi dorboz.

Odamlar, odamlar, uni olqishlang,
Qarang, u naqadar epchil va o‘ktam,
Biz-chi, eh… ba’zi bir ko‘zi ochiqlar
Eplab yurolmaymiz katta yo‘lda ham.

(Abdulla Oripov)

# XOTIRA

Do'stim, xotirangdan qilma shikoyat,
Esdan chiqarmoq ham yaxshi odatdir.
Esdan chiqarmoq ham zo'r saodatdir,
Unutmaslik dardi og'ir nihoyat.

Unutib yuborsang orom olar jon,
Qalb ko'tarib yurmas ortiq jafoni,
Mana men- yillarki bir bevafoni
Esdan chiqarolmay kuyaman hamon.

# DAHOLAR KERAK

Aziz do'stlar bizga bugun
Millatimiz ravnaqi uchun
Ayamasdan butun kuchin
Sarf etguvchi fidolar kerak!

Saqlab o'zbekning shonini
Bag'ishlab molu-jonini
Butun ushlab iymonini,
Saxovatli siymolar kerak!

Oxiratni o'ylaguvchi,
Jannat isin bo'ylaguvchi,
O'zbek tilda so'ylaguvchi,
Mardu maydon donolar kerak!

Ma'rifatga chorlaguvchi,
Jaholatni bog'laguvchi,
Soadatga boshlaguvchi,
Olim, zukko, daholar kerak!

Va'dasiga vafolar kerak!
Millatparvar siymolar kerak!
Mardu maydon Donolar keark!
Bizga shunday DAHOLAR kerak!

MY NATIVE TONGUE

The nightingale's song has not changed
In a thousand years, pristine forever.
But the lot of the poor parrot
Is to imitate others forever.

My native tongue, as long as you are here, without a doubt
I will put the nightingale's melody to poetry
The day you disappear, indubitably,
I too will become a parrot.

(Abdulla Oripov)

THE TIGHTROPE WALKER

Next to the clouds, under the sky,
He walks the tightrope like a tear on an eyelash
atop a rope like the edge of a blade,
He walks with his eyes closed.

People, people, applaud him!
Look, he is so dexterous and noble,
As for us, well... some of us with open eyes
Cannot even follow a wide path.

(Abdulla Oripov)

MEMORY

My friend, do not bemoan your bad memory,
To be able to forget is a good practice.
To be able to forget is a great joy.
The pain of not forgetting is severe.

Having forgotten, the soul will find peace.
The heart will no longer bear this burden.
Look at me - for years I have suffered,
Unable to forget the one who betrayed me.

(Erkin Vohidov)

WE NEED GENIUSES

Dear friends, we need
For our country’s prosperity
Devotees who use
Their strength unsparingly.

We need generous ones
Who preserve the Uzbeks’ honour,
Who devote their lives,
Who keep all their faith.

We need noble erudites,
Who think about the hereafter
Who smell the scent of paradise
Who speak the Uzbek language.

We need scholarly, astute geniuses
Who invite knowledge
Who stop ignorance
Who bring about joy!

We need GENIUSES who
Keep their promises
Love their homeland
Who are noble and wise!

(Olim Sharipov)
